As part of the recent work at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, a new glass structure has discretely taken its place atop the iconic mast of the Montreal Tower. It is one of our major structural glass projects: the glass wall enclosing the observatory’s outdoor terrace.

The project stands out for the complexity of its execution, owing to the unique configuration of the tower, recognized as the tallest inclined structure in the world. Despite numerous logistical challenges, the installation was completed successfully and now offers an exceptional view of the city for all.

Technical challenges :

  • The glass panels are designed to withstand winds of 270 km/h.

Notable solutions and innovations :

  • The hardware was custom-designed to allow the glass walls to cantilever more than 3 m, at a 65-degree incline.
  • The project comprises a total of 70 glass panels, each made of six laminated layers of glass with a combined thickness of 67 mm.
