Presented with the challenge to conceive a new glass wall of 60’ by 60’ to create a new hall for the Montreal Head Office of Mouvement Desjardins, CPA proposed a unique self-contained cable wall designed to minimize loading transferred to the existing structure. Highly tensioned rods linked with nodes create large catenaries anchored to a perimeter steel frame.

Cables set horizontally and vertically were tensioned with hydraulic jacks throughout the nodes in order to pre-tension the whole system. Progressive installation of glass and deformations were closely monitored and compensated for in order to achieve the final geometry.
