It’s with great pleasure that we’re officially announcing the opening of our Calgary office which will be helmed by our newest engineer, David Optyker. After working on extensive projects for RJC and ENTUITIVE, we’re thrilled that he accepted the opportunity to develop, with the full support of our Montreal headquarters, public institutional projects as well as private commercial, cultural and industrial developments.

As you’ll discover below, David is fully proficient in English and French (and other languages!) and can handle any project in concrete, steel, timber or even structural glass!

David has ELEMA’s full confidence in providing exceptional and quality structural engineering services as we’ve always strived to do since 2014 and we hope you’ll get a chance to know and work with him!

Don’t hesitate to reach out to him via his LinkedIn profile (click here)!

David Optyker M. Eng., P.Eng.

David has called Calgary his home for the last ten years, solidifying himself in the Western Canadian landscape with a vast portfolio that includes municipal, residential, heritage, recreational, and cultural projects. He hails from Geneva, Switzerland and earned his degrees and early work experiences internationally in Lausanne, Paris, and Vancouver, and therefore has a unique and robust knowledge base of both Canadian and European code and design standards. He is always scanning the wide global engineering landscape looking for new and innovative materials and structural solutions.

His role will be focused on curating a team to support him and our eastern offices in bringing our talent westward. He is exceptionally proficient in steel, concrete, and wood design, with a particular talent and appetite for unique approaches and solutions. He is eager to assist with each step of an engineering journey; from early preliminary design to project delivery, or conditional assessment of existing and historical structures.

David is known for his quick wit, easy-going nature, and creative problem solving and design. He is a go-to person when an innovative idea or challenging fix is needed. David’s emphasis on coordination between and within teams makes him a valuable addition to a project.
