A wonderful surprise this morning when the May issue cover page of USGlass Magazine® was unveiled with “The Cage” project, designed by our colleague Béthanie Cloutier, selected as the “Project of the Month”!
Cantilevered atop the 213-foot Port of Montreal Tower, this transparent observation platform offers a unique experience in an amazing context!
Excerpt:
“According to AGNORA officials, the glass cage is a novel feature. The entire structure is glass, self-supporting and an insulating glass unit. This differs from conventional walkable glass projects, where metal beams or structures bear the load.
Officials explain that multiple lites were laminated with a Kuraray SentryGlas interlayer to ensure the cage’s structural integrity. Proper tempering and edgework added to the cage’s durability. Sadev fittings were also used to account for temperature variations and form a weatherproofing seal. Glazing products include Pilkington OptiWhite and Saint-Gobain CoolLite Extreme.”
Congratulations to the entire project team!
