Glass panels tilted at a 65-degree angle and extending over 3 metres on the world’s tallest inclined tower — this was the challenge successfully met during the redevelopment of the outdoor terrace at the top of the Montreal Tower.
A new glass structure now crowns the summit of the tower, marking the completion of a major project. These panels are composed of six layers of glass, with a total thickness of 67 mm, ensuring safety, durability, and maximum transparency. Custom-designed hardware supports the installation, adapted specifically for the height and angle of the structure.
The engineering of the structural glass and its anchoring systems was carried out in close collaboration with key partners, within a highly complex technical context due to the tower’s steep incline and limited accessibility.
This new addition allows visitors to enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the city, offering a more immersive and dynamic observatory experience.
A video captures the logistical challenges of installing the panels on the inclined tower, along with breathtaking footage of this striking addition to Montreal’s skyline.
