This Friday, our architect-partner Martin Houle will be part of a round table relating to the exhibition “Pier Luigi Nervi: master designer / builder” at the UQAM Design Center.
The round table discussion will specifically address research and design cross-practices in architecture and engineering, based on the following premises:
Can any constructive problem be solved by a set of known and predefined solutions? If not, what type of situation justifies the search for new approaches and what are the processes that lead to new solutions? Where is the line between the application of predefined solutions and the search for innovative systems? Is an experimental solution in itself a new generalizable disciplinary standard?
