On October 22, with his former colleague François Beaurivage and Denis Lefebvre, our senior engineer André Bahous will be pleased to present the design of the new Saint-Jacques bridge that straddles the southern portion of the Décarie highway. André has already had the privilege of presenting this achievement this summer at the 10th International Conference on Small and Medium Span Bridges.
This cable-stayed bridge composed of an architectural signature with its unique 55 m (180 ft.) tall pylon was designed with a monocoque structure of box girders paired with an orthotropic deck measuring 120 m (approximately 400 ft). The execution of the demolition and installation of the deck was carried out by “launch”, thus eliminating the obligation to close this vital North-South artery of Montreal.
