From the street, you can only see an imposing structure retaining the historic facades of the legendary MAA Sports Club. But what you don’t see is the enormous challenge we took on designing this temporary structure to allow the excavation of the three parking basements beneath it.
The facades are therefore retained in cantilever on a set of piles which will eventually be cut once the concrete structures of the parking lots and the ground floor of the new tower have reached the correct structural capacity.
Subsequently, the concrete slabs on the ground floor up to level 3 (where the sports center will resume its functions) will take over the anchoring and the lateral loads of the heritage facades.
Our thanks to the entire team, including Devimco Real Estate / Edyfic, the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, architects LEMAYMICHAUD and Dupras Ledoux as well as photographer Damien Ligiardi with whom it was a real pleasure to make this video!
Enjoy the video and don’t forget to put the volume up!
