The casting of the podium slabs is progressing quickly! Here are photos taken this morning showing our strategy in the design of the temporary support of the existing facades combined to the integration of the slabs which will afterwards take over its loads.

Specifically here, we’ve engineered a system of “suspended” beams in the ground floor slab that supports the three perpendicular facades to Peel Street in order to clear the parking space under them.

The 2nd photo illustrates the full height of the temporary support of these three facades at the end of the excavation while the other photos show its integration into the structure. When all the concrete components have reached their optimal structural capacity, the steel support will be removed according to a dismantling sequence.
